Ooh, well done! I am not clever enough for socks - I don't understand heels.
I am knitting teeny mittens for my teeny cousin, but the first one came out at least twice as big as his hands. Still, I'll fix it once I get these words fixed :-)
Can you do toes? Like, top down decreased to the tips sock toes? If you can do those, you can do heels.
Knit your sock, either toe up or cuff down. At the "heel" position, using a bit of spare yarn (I usually use something the same weight as my sock yarn but a strongly contrasting color), knit across half the stitches (the heel stitches). Then, using your actual sock yarn, knit across those stitches again.
When you're done with the rest of the whole sock, go back to your partial round. Using a slightly smaller needle, pick up every stitch above the spare yarn. Using a second needle, pick up all the stitches below the spare yarn. Pull out the spare yarn.
Now, just knit a toe DOWN around this new spot in the sock.
(I love socks. LOVE.)
The teeny mittens sound really cute! And if you just knit a new set, at least teeny ones are fast to knit.

Good luck with the words as well!
