Ahhh, we are now past the mid-way point and I am out of distractions, excuses and hot chocolate.

Tis the last bit that really makes me grumpy. *Needs sugary fix*

Well, nothing for it then but fic. Even the fixing of dinner is not enough of a distraction. So words must be made.

I am assuming from the plethora of crickets that you all are waaaayyyy ahead of me on the word-front. *Beams* Which is Awesome. Come! Pour a cuppa, rest your fingers (eyes and brains) for a mo' and tell us all about it, yeah?

Edit: Due to some 'Bzuh?!' and a good mix of Timey-Wimey (Wibbley-Wobbley), we have sussed out where the hour we thought was lost went. Tis not within the Vortex after all. We just sliiiightly misplaced it. So we will call this postie Hour 24 (Part Deux). Sorry for the confusion. We can just blame the newbie Usurper *points to self* and call it good. *Nods*

Aha, I've figured out the time-slip! This is actually Hour 24. Or Hour 24, Part 2. We did not lose an hour earlier today, except for the confuzzlement between time zones - Xavia is an hour west of us.

*hugs you* Not to worry! Time Zone Confuzzlement is part of the Modly Experience. The time-stamp of a given post shows the poster's local time -- and if you don't know what time zone they're in, that doesn't give you much to go on!

The Master Schedule for a round is a good reference for which time = which hour, but you still have to adjust for time zones. And even after this many years, I still make mistakes in it!

And no, you have so far entirely *not* stepped on any scheduled mod toes, at least none that I know of. I was able to reach Lothi and confirm that she isn't able to make her regular shift right now, so she's going to cover the gap tomorrow morning (which is a difficult shift to cover, because morning). I'm not sure what's going on with raktajinos -- I don't think she ever actually checked the schedule, although I put her in for a shift during a time that she said was a good one for her.

*Smiles* I check by Round Hours and I know everything but Sunday 2pm and 5pm (and the -hours) were covered...at least, as best as I could suss it out they were. I am confused. But that's okay, tis a feeling I'm rather used to, lol! I have a hard enough time keeping track of my own timezone, sooooo. *Hands*

I look at it this way though - for all the people we have all over the world who are involved, thou art still kicking much arse. There is no way in hell I could seesaw this a fraction as well. So I tip my hat to you, lovie. And thank you for the soothing words.

I got hysterical, lost my head and admitted my slip whilst amending. Relieved my feelings a bit, lol!! I figured you wouldn't want me jumping through too many hoops, either (though I would happily do so if asked).

Whew! Well...that makes me feel a bit better. I know Usurping is a thing, but I don't wanna rub anyone the wrong way - and seeing as how this is my first go at usurping (YE GODS I AM EVERYWHERE) I am more hyper-aware of how I could be offending (especially if this was a different type of comm). But so far, no one has felt the urge to smack me like an uppity-puppy, so I'm (tentatively) pleased with myself, lol!

Hmmm...maybe something came up that left her unable to check/unaware that she had a schedule? Hope everything is okay with her.

I heard from her briefly but inconclusively; she doesn't seem to be un-okay.

A good rule of thumb with usurping is that, if there's a scheduled mod, but the mod hasn't posted, it's fair game for anyone at 10 minutes past the hour. If there's no scheduled mod (aka free-for-all), the first person whose post actually posts, wins. (I should formally post the Rules of Usurpation, now I think of it.)

In a situation such as this -- where a mod has gone missing, and has not checked in at all (such as by making a breathless comment on the current post after dashing in the door, or sending a PM to say "I'm here now, thanks for covering me, I'm good to go") -- you would want to wait till 10 minutes after the first hour, but you don't have to wait as long in subsequent hours, since you can assume that the missing mod is still AFK until proven otherwise.

Admittedly, in a thesis, you eventually have to turn the Screaming Rantiness into Academic Rantiness, which has more syllables and appears more restrained, at least on the surface. I think you do that in the second draft.

Ahhh, see! RULES. That's what I needed! *Beams* Thank you, thank you! I now feel less...pushy-shovy. Is an insecure idiot, please ignore. I went a few rounds with Xan (and Clocket) yesterday on the 'whoever posts first race' (which, come to think of it, was LOADS of fun and it made me forget how nervous I was), so I learned the 'who posts first' Rules during Free-for-All yesterday. T'was a giddy way to learn, but I enjoyed myself muchly. The nerves are knee-jerk it seems. I blame my childhood. *CACKLES* Rules are always good. I shall try to remember them as they are simple and should be easy to retain. Even for me. O_o

Ten minutes. Were all of mine ten minutes? *resists the urge to check* I think the subsequent hours were within that margin (even as you say they didn't have to be), but I can't remember if my first post fell after that time-frame.

But it certainly explains why most of the usurpations I've observed here started at :11-:16. *Nods* Thank you, thank you! I am less a bundle of nerves now. Though gosh knows those nerves didn't stop me much, did they? LOL!!

Yep, that actually happened to me a few rounds ago. So don't worry, everybody's actually goofed up the timelines during rush at sometime or another. It's pretty much tradition.
