Bless your heart - your dedication is awesome! I'm still here but stumbling a little, to be honest. I don't know if it's pms, or what, but all of a sudden I started second guessing this whole story. Mainly because it's a story about a relationship, and for some reason I'm angsting about the lack of anything more "important" than that, I guess. I could just end it with the huge smut scene, which is usually a popular way to go in this genre, but I seem to have this problem with throwing two people together, having them go from nagging/picking on each other to shagging in a week's time with no acknowledgment of "hey, THAT was fast and a little OOC..."
Oh yes, second-guessing. If it makes you feel better, I think relationships are one of the most important things to write about, in fanfic and in fic in general. Maybe it would help to take a brief break and come back to it?
I agree -- if there's anything more important in writing than relationships, I've been doing it wrong all along and so have thousands of others. I essentially write action-adventure, with all these guys doing guyish things, and it's still about relationships.
Well, yeah. I guess what I mean is that it's basically, "this is the story of how they got together," and there's nothing terribly outstanding about it. There's not a marriage law, no one dies or gets put under a curse and is brought back or rescued, etc. In the end, I think *I* will like it, and that's all that matters, I guess!
I find the relationships and their development always more interesting than the physical activity - if it's OOC to hop in the sack maybe it's okay that they don't reach that phase yet and merely hint that it could go that way given more time?
