Getting a little distracted by my hunt for good 'R' words. Why do dictionaries have to be so much fun? ^_^ Stalling a bit due to this, but still am in a creative enough mood to hopefully string some of my previously written odds and ends together into a sensible scene or two over the next hour or two.
Tired but I think I've still some scribbling in me - I'm retiring from the typed version to the battered notebook by the bed version pretty soon.
Suppose I ought to introduce my fic, haven't done that - most of my current work is classic Doctor Who and my current WIP is for the Third Doctor and the Brigadier - bogging down in writing action at the moment, I can dialogue til the cows come home but action is very difficult for me.
I also write a fair bit of poetry and have a lot of Tolkien works stashed away, but this round is for the Doctor - I have a huge hutch of unfinished plot-bunnies waiting in various stages on the side should this one totally block up.
And the fic sounds like fun, though I feel your pain when it comes to action. Most of my writing looks like scripts until I buckle down and flesh it out, but it feels like pulling teeth to do so.
And backup plans are good too. Hope the action-block works its way out without too much pain!
Best of luck with it! I'm trying to wrap up the current very talky bit so I can move on to a nice batch of action. For some reason, I seem to be able to deal with action sequences . . . I have no idea why, but I'm glad of it.
Myev, there's a truly delicious book out there, titled "Spunk and Bite". My favourite chapter in it is "How to Loot a Thesaurus".
Oh, it is! Did you ever have Strunk and White inflicted upon you? Spunk and Bite is the antidote to Strunk and White, and the whole tired business of aiming writing at the lowest common denominator. It basically encourages you to break rules, and gives you examples of what rules to break, when, where, why, and with how much glee.
This is a side-community for fic_rush, where we post our hourly posts during rounds. If you've wandered in here by accident, you'll want to go there instead.
If you're with fic_rush and have just shown up, look for most recent hourly post.
