I procrastinated the whole afternoon, doing some useful things, such as taking in from the clothesline and folding the dry bedclothes and making some order in the kitchen cupboards, but mostly I wasted time online. Then about two hours ago I checked this comm again and I told myself NOW. 1100 words have happened since: they still need severe editing (they're not even all in English yet) but I'm feeling very satisfied, almost to the point of smoking-a-cigarette-after :). Unfortunately I forgot both to cook dinner and to shop for groceries while the stores were still open, which means tomorrow I'll go and have a meal out instead of cooking it and cleaning up after. Which is so good. Thanks for the lovely comm, and I'll try to be more supportive too!
I accidentally wrote a neat ending. Can't you still keep the neat ending and squeeze a fic in between? I usually have the opposite problems, overlong fics which stay WIPs because I can't come up with a halfway decent ending.
Okay, I have to go and edit my fic for an exchange and send it to my beta. I have to do that now. I did the editing on paper earlier, so all I have to do is type.
I can do that. *takes deep breath* (I think I'm sort of starting to hate this fic.)
(Hi, Fic rush! Real life is most unfortunate, yes.)
Yeah, we sound like total opposites. I usually know the ending and can't work out how to get there. Luckily this time I just ended a scene I thought I was starting, not a whole fic. So I started again, and threw in a note to insert some other stuff inbetween later, once I know what else is happening in this story.
LOL I sometimes type things first, but only if they're very short.
How can a person write and not ever do it with a pen or pencil to hand and an enticingly blank notebook in front of them, full of empty pages that will be the story soon? The way it feels to shape the letters yourself...
... And then the bit where you have to type it all up and you can't even read your handwriting because it went totally illegible, and you think it might have been an important/quite good line... LOL
Thanks. But, sadly, I really have no superpowers - only a different method of writing. ;-)
This is a side-community for fic_rush, where we post our hourly posts during rounds. If you've wandered in here by accident, you'll want to go there instead.
If you're with fic_rush and have just shown up, look for most recent hourly post.
