Okay, I took the short story I had finished by cutting away a piece and made some major rewriting, even though the word total remained (around 650). I'll look at it some more and then put it where a friend can read it - she should be waking up just about now, on the opposite end of the planet. I've learned to love time zones.

I also ate the first blackberries of the season. They were a bit sour, but next week the weather's supposed to be good: there are so many plants growing along the path near this house that I might even have enough to make jam.

Finished the story, not sure if the title works anymore. I have to edit out about a hundred and forty words. Time to set it aside and let it simmer on its own. I'll take an ax to it tomorrow.

And now, I shall make that pitcher of frozen goodness and take a break. More Incredible Hulk TV show, here I come. It's research, I tell you.
