We still have some writing going on, as well as generous amounts of procrastinating. It may be time to either summon the ninja pirate penguins, or possibly start writing crack.
(My jetlag start sinking in... last night. I should go to sleep. But I shall be brave! And proofread the bloody chapter! And post it! And then get people reviewing my fic telling me how it's riddled with mistakes and to get a beta!
You could proofread it now, and then get some sleep and check it again before you post it, which might result in fewer errors. And ask your obnoxious reviewers which one of them would care to volunteer to beta for you. *wicked laugh*
I wanted to do that. But it was an anonymous review :| Honestly, I went back to send them a PM going "cool, will you be willing to beta?" and then went :( when I realised I can't.
Eh, I shouldn't be so bitter. Other than the "but betas are so easy to find" spirit of the review it was a really nice one and full of compliments. It's just that I'm so bitter over that specific fic cos I really looked hard for a beta and failed...
I'll be honest, I'm rather blessed with my reviewers (anonymous or otherwise). Sure, you get the random comment every once in a while, but all in all my reviewers are lovely and are consistently both cool and write much more satisfying reviews than most on the site... I'm just overly-pissy with the 'get a beta' for this specific fic as I PMed/emailed about a dozen people and posted requests in three different comms...
Though it's not that surprising I failed, TBH - it's a 120k political-realistic-drama Harry Potter gen fic (called War Is Over). The only way I would be less likely to find beta was to make it a crossover.
Oh, yes, I can definitely see that -- it takes a huge commitment to beta the long novels! I'm glad that you're mostly getting good feedback.
I started repolishing and reposting my MacGyver novels to Ao3, and was brought to a screeching halt when the site broke. But I'm not getting any comments there anyway, which is making it very hard to contemplate finishing the job even after the site is fixed. The last novel is currently stuck at a cliffhanger, but apparently nobody's reading.
Awwww :( *gives Beth rubber trout, for easier smacking*
AO3 is weird like that. People do read (although less so), but almost no one comments. It's so bizarre. I think because it tries to be so meta-fandom-ish, it ends up being very confusing for a lot of people. I know I look at their huge lists of tags and scratch my head at at least half of them. They've sort of crossed the line from being very helpful to being too helpful, if I make any sense!
