I made one of my characters talk real pretty like a book, which is what he's prone to doing. Now I've got to make them both take action like the competent gentlemen that they are.

Also I nuked some fried rice for breakfast. Mmm carbs, the breakfast of champions.

Pretty pretty Boy Scouts. I just wish they would impart to me all the information they have about causing a diversion using rifle cartridges and some sort of fuse or radio signal, because they have much more practice at that than I do. Also because I think that having the Boy Scouts Explain It All would be a nice way to spend a Sunday morning. I recently spent a short commercial flight with a gorgeous woman in the seat next to me explaining the details of flying and I haven't quite recovered my equanimity. Competent people talking about practical things may be my biggest weakness!

I have another serving of rice, but no teleporter. Why does this always happen?

Hmmm. After I'm back from errands, I'll see if my sister (the Gun Expert) is awake and interested in consultation. It's entirely her fault that the guns and bullets in my stories act like real guns and bullets. She isn't a Boy Scout, but she used to be.

Right now we're making blanks out of unspecified rifle cartridges with great abandon. Because that didn't seem to require specialized knowledge on the author's part, and my boys aren't interested in actually shooting people. Just figuring out how to make them go 'boom' at a convenient time.

I really want to write this ending because, as you know, this story has been bedeviling me for a Long Time and deserves a good, satisfying wrap up.

Keeping one's audience in a state of pleasant anticipation is great! But I don't want to pull a Robert Jordan and keel over before the thing is done, that's for sure.

I never found any use myself in Robert Jordan beyond ballast and propping up furniture. But I should be devastated were you to keel over, and not because of unfinished fic.
