Hour 40 sees the return of the Ninja Alphabet with Ninja Quetzals, waiting patiently in their queue... or perhaps they've been parading all this time... it's hard to say because, well, they are ninjas.

Also, I must add a word of WARNING!! The ninja have apparently made off with my coffee beans, so we can expect increased activity until the caffeine wears off.

I'm really feeling the creative vibes here, ppl! Keep 'em coming! My WIPs are gathering dust and my readers are too!

Hah, it's five past 11 here so that'll do... time to round up further sustenance of all kinds, stop sorting my writing boudoir for a bit, and get my writing going.

I'm up! But I'm about to leave to go out for brunch, so who knows when I'll be back. I only wrote 96 words yesterday, so I hope to do a lot better than that in whatever time will be left. :-)

Odd question that someone might be able to help with: I've been to Colorado, and I've been white water rafting, but I've never been white water rafting in Colorado. If you were to think of a small to medium city where people who river guide might live in Colorado, what would it be? College town? Which region? I've only been in Colorado Springs, which is the wrong part of the state I think.

You know, because my character decided to up and leave her fiance and go hang out with her old high school buddy the river guide/ski instructor. Thanks a lot, lady... you couldn't pick somewhere I've been to move to?

Do you want the available rafting to be touristy stuff, or OMG Experts Only, or a range?

Here's a possibility: http://www.breckenridgewhitewater.com/

I'd look along the first hundred miles of I-70 west of Denver and choose a town of the size you want. Silverthorne has a nice poetic name.

Probably both - the river guide makes her money from tourism, but it wouldn't hurt for there to be stupidly expert stuff.

I was fascinated by the in-the-moment attitude of the river guides I met in New Hampshire. It seemed very nomadic and she's going to be a handy touchstone for my other character.

Edited reply to your edited reply - ooh, awesome... I will go digging for towns!

Breckenridge, CO might be even better -- it's actually a bit larger that Silverthorne, although it's off the interstate. It's the county seat and has Much Exciting Stuff, including a film festival.

That whole area is also OMFG Effing Gorgeous. I'm getting very homesick just looking at pictures of it.

Yeah, I went from zero to wanderlust as soon as I realized she was going to be in a part of the country I'd Really Like to See. As in apparently RIGHT NOW.

Which isn't going to happen, but might help my future vacation planning! This year while the other householders are off at Burning Man I'm going to visit a friend in Georgia. Maybe I can pack them off again next year and hie myself to Colorado!

Breckenridge is looking better and better. BTW, the town is at 9600 feet -- if you need any firsthand info on what altitude adaptation is like, feel free to ask. If your character is in good health (obviously she is), she should be able to adapt pretty well within three weeks.

Wow, that's a somewhat higher elevation than Colorado Springs. Good point... nice plot/character point...

I tried to go running in the hills outside Colorado Springs and um had to sit down.

I was 8 1/2 when we moved from Richland, WA (sea level) to Los Alamos, NM (7200 feet). I remember the adaptation quite well.

When I made the shift in reverse, for college, it was a lot more fun. *g*
