I've been replying to comments instead of making a new post. But I can fix that by going back seven minutes and posting this on time. Disregard the LJ timestamp; it doesn't know what it's talking about.

You can always edit the LJ timestamp. It's a very timey-wimey thing to do.

Progress: put a telly in a closet, get paid two weeks' allowance (for earlier closet-scuffling, mostly), find a legal pad. Drabble is stubbornly stuck at 38 words, but at least I've figured out that swapping the halves might help unstick it...

Interesting. My drabbles usually start out too long, not too short. Shuffling things does sound like a good strategy, though.

I'm curious about the TV in the closet. Is that to keep you from watching it, or was it always slated to go in the closet once there was room for it?

It was slated to go in the closet, yeah. It's an ancient, probably pre-VCR-era television I bought at a thrift store; I keep it around because my primary movie-watching thing is my laptop, which has died twice in two years now - "my laptop" being a fungible term for any laptop that is mine. o_O

(I have a little black box from Radio Shack that allows me to hook up a DVD player or VCR to the TV's antenna jack. Very cool.)

Or if not pre-VCR, at least pre-"we have to have inputs for this, that and the other thing"; there's only an antenna jack for input.
