Sooo. I've reached the point in my novella/novel where I recognize the need for a massive re-write of the ending. The part where I left myself a note saying "this reads like the People's Friend (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_People%27s_Friend)". Lord help me as I try to beat this sucker out of its sentimental mess and into something with a bit more grit.

Hmmm. Sindarin. It's based on Welsh more than Quenya!

Quenya. I have trouble with Sindarin particles. (Okay, my English and Latin grammar are actually better, but Quenya's easier for me than Sindarin anyway. I think it's because Sindarin is a vernacular language where Quenya is a "dead language" or language of record; it's a bit more formally structured.)

GAWD YES. I'm with you all the way. I actually abandoned for the time being that fic. I've written 62k in two and a half weeks and maybe 3k in another week cos I realised I'm having serious problems with the way it's supposed to continue. So now I'm taking a break and writing the next fic on my list.

Hmmm. no chance anyone feels like advice-betaing a long gen post-Deathly Hallows Harry Potter drama fic, eh?...
