The penguins are off looking up nautical terms. It's not their strong suit. So while the birds are away, the writers must play. Or work. Yes, work. Very hard.

What're we getting accomplished this hour? Sleep? Ironing? Actual Writing?

I came with four half-finished fics - I leave with one at beta, one on the rubbish heap, one a passable Second Draft and the other a slightly more passable Third Draft. Hurrah!

Woah, those are some conflicting demands on your schedule. I'd hate to bias you toward beta notes when you definitely need to pack. Should be a lovely time of year to visit Seattle!

A skip is a large metal thingy you hire out to put lots of rubbish in - and they also have them at centres where people can take rubbish to (usually known as the [rubbish] dump or the [rubbish] tip, but generally they have actual names like 'X Recycling Centre' or similar. By a natural connection I typed tip when I meant skip. (I don't know what the US term for skip is if it isn't skip...)

I hope you are now safely un-confuzzled by my strange Britishisms. :-D

Hahaha, no, against all my expectations, it's not Eleven/Ruth in the tip, or the skip! They're the Passable Third Draft, and still have a couple more drafts in them yet. :)

Ah, thank you! We call a skip a dumpster. (I think that might have been an American brand name or trademark name for them - I've seen it capitalized a lot in books from the '60s and thereabouts.)

Nine was in the dumpster/skip because belantana wrote this amazing fic (900 words). We have an ongoing thing about having Ruth from Spooks meet every Doctor. We've managed two between us so far. Progress is slow. :lol:

Aw, have a lovely time. I went to the US once in 1997 to visit a uni friend who lived in Oak Harbor (and she was then at uni somewhere way across the other side of the state, so we went there to) but we went to Seattle twice we (me and my other friend) liked it so much.
