My friend made a reversible fascinator for derby watching. I was impressed. It's been a while since I've seen or perpetrated crazy homemade millinery.

I did get a few sentences written, but I'm pinning a lot of hopes on tonight when the spouse distraction levels dissipate entirely.

True. And it's interesting in this case because the distractions were actually prompted by the writing! I got to particular points in the story when all of a sudden whoops! I remembered something else that I felt needed doing :P.

It is! I always liked the Melbourne Cup because of the ridiculous hat potential, although I always wore the ridiculous hats to work/school, not the race itself. It's nice to see the cheerful silliness get a bit of a boost from that weird lot and their little family wedding.
