not sure which I'm more annoyed at rn, Microsoft for requiring an internet connection during the install process of an update that's already been downloaded, or the ISP (or possibly router) for not providing a useful internet connection

anyway can't do shit until that's done

things that didn't used to need an internet connection and could easily function without one that now require an internet connection for no reason is my villain origin story

and it's most of an hour since it started installing and is now at 64% installed, by which I mean it's taken less than ten seconds to get this far; those ten seconds are simply a few spikes of receiving data at ~20 Mbps, separated by several-minute stretches of receiving data at 16 Kbps tops
