sidlj has made herself into a martini icon, which is a hell of a lot better than being a fashion icon.

insertcode11 has doubts, but is writing words, so that's all good.

lolmac has been doing 'research', and has to do more.

I got 953 words this hour (I know that's a lot of words! My drunk penguin must be working) which brings me up to a total of 1471 this round fic_rush !!!!!! Now I think I'm going to make lunch, pray my muse doesn't run away on me.

Why do I suck at dialogue so bad?

I'm cold. I have a stuffed monkey on my shoulder. His name is Pyro and he's a sucky muse.

Also. I think my fourth a cup of coffee gave me heartburn.

Dialogue problems? Argh.

I'm fond of the technique of visualising my 'actors' in rehearsal, and telling them, "Okay, start improvising. Make it work. I'll just write down what you come up with."

Unfortunately, they don't always cooperate.

Strangely enough, the 200 words I just wrote are all dialogue!

It's not just dialogue. It's arguing. A continuation of a past argument which was like 40K ago and I can't remember it very well... and I don't have that chapter on this computer.

It's kind of funny. It's like I decided to give my characters a script painted haphazardly with white-out and told them to wing it just to watch them SQUIRM.

Or I could be confusing fic with rl again. Huh.

Well, at this point the only part of this round I'm still participating in is the drinking. But I fully intend to count the weekend as research. My traveling companions are asleep and I have peach liqueur and Canadian aka real Smarties on the table next to me, but I left my laptop at home. It might be time to pull out actual pen and paper.

Paper and pen are awesome! I think I did more ficcing with those while my laptop was away in the shop than I'd done by typing in the however-long previous.
