I keep telling myself, "Editing counts! You put in a word here, a word there . . . after awhile it starts to add up, right?"

Editing is vital, and often more time-consuming than the actual writing. It has to be done. You just can't wave and boast about wordage, sadly.

But it definitely counts - it's the unglamorous, necessary bit.
