Round 10 hour 42

Hour 42 already. Hopefully this will be as productive as the last.

[identity profile] jjpor.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Whoa, 1,333 words since last time. Battle scene - I usually get caught up in them and motor through them fairly quickly. Guys getting trampled by horses and getting maces through the head, that kind of thing. Nasty stuff. O.o

[identity profile] jjpor.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you!

[identity profile] alternatealto.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. Go you! If I hit 750 words or so in an hour, I think I'm smokin'! You're really doing well!

[identity profile] jjpor.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I sort of surprised myself - I'm normally about 500 words an hour, even when I avoid distractions...

701 words last hour - and I'm starting to flag, so I think I might put this aside until I've eaten and refuelled!

[identity profile] alternatealto.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 04:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Finally back in the saddle again, and a couple of hundred words to the good!

Time to set aside my hefty MacGyver/Due South cross-over for a palate cleansing spot of Justified/Burn Notice one shot. Michael Westen is like the gun-totin' morally-dubious twin of MacGyver anyway.

I so love google maps. Want to look at actual satellite photos of clubs in downtown Miami Beach? Can do. Although I'm worried that after googling diagrams of an M16A2, mountain climbing equipment, and now this, I will be on some interesting watch lists.

Also I need to grab some lunch, for sure.

[identity profile] alternatealto.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Mmm, Miami Beach! I only live about 35 minutes from there, but it's been ages since I've visited. Now I'm thinking about Lincoln Road Mall when the farmer's market is on. Fresh tropical fruits, yum!

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/idlewild_/ 2010-09-26 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I WANT YOUR FRUITS.

Okay, it really is time for lunch. I have fresh, local apples in the house. It just doesn't compare to tropical fruit. I really need to visit Miami. I need to drag bff back down to where she grew up, maybe some time during the impending Horrible New England Winter.

Hey, a good friend of yours is about to move down to that neck of the woods. Just sayin' . . .

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/idlewild_/ 2010-09-26 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
That is certainly an additional inducement! Friends > fruit(excluding really ripe mango).
lolmac: (Hands Off)

[personal profile] lolmac 2010-09-26 05:42 pm (UTC)(link)
According to pop vocabulary, in this case, friends = fruits.

(Pre-coffee, my punning is much, much worse.)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/idlewild_/ 2010-09-26 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
You've had, like, half an hour to make coffee... are you roasting the beans or what?

(...sometimes it takes me a really long time to make coffee because an object at rest tends to stay at rest... (yes, I do like parenthetical clauses a lot, it's a sickness (and yes, that was a bad pun!(But I'm laughing anyway.))))
lolmac: (no coffee)

[personal profile] lolmac 2010-09-26 06:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I awoke to find myself out of coffee. I'll be hopping out to get some between the next two hourly posts. Meanwhile, my comments veer even farther off-centre than usual . . .

And I overuse ellipses . . .

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/idlewild_/ 2010-09-26 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I ... don't understand. The words all make sense individually, but the phrase "out of coffee" has no meaning in my language.

(Except this one time, that led to hilarity, as we tried to brew several coffee-like substances into something acceptable.)
lolmac: (Coffee)

[personal profile] lolmac 2010-10-05 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
I should mention that I am still bemused at the concept of "coffee-like substances".

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/idlewild_/ 2010-10-05 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
Well. Coffee related substances of note. We had instant espresso on hand because of some baking that had called for it. That was an immediate failure. We had Turkish coffee but no real briki and that was a much slower and more dismal failure. I think we may have attempted to combine the two at some point. I don't remember what happened next, but I know there was a third something in the house that could plausibly be treated as if it were coffee were one utterly desperate, and we did. Possibly carpet clippings. I get pretty dire when there is No Coffee At All to be had.

Clearly he's the Evil Twin.

And nobody showed up with Pointed Questions after I'd been googling exploded diagrams of Uzis, detail of Hezbollah, and Google maps of Baalbek. On the other hand, if I'd been Googling a US location, that might have been worse.

I need coffee.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/idlewild_/ 2010-09-26 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
The Evil Twin with the Good Posture. (Michael Westen's posture isn't the only reason we watch Burn Notice, but we certainly do spend a lot of time going, "would you look at that, he can't even slouch when he's trying.")

Coffee good. I'm onto fruity rum drink for with lunch.

Edited to close a parenthesis before I destroy the universe.

According to the Fake AP Stylebook, "Always be certain to close all parentheses. We're not paying to air-condition the whole page."

 I had to Google potential terrorist groups for a fic once, then arsenic poisoning, and recently British army weapons.

I'm so going to end up at MI5 the bad way...
thisbluespirit: (good days bad days)

[personal profile] thisbluespirit 2010-09-26 05:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you could be visiting for legitimate reasons, or employed there. Mind, going by Spooks, that wouldn't do much for your life expectancy... :-)

lolmac: (where's my cake?)

I'm in an LJ comm called [livejournal.com profile] little_details, which fields questions for writers (mostly fic, but some original). Qeestions on certain topics -- suicide, terrorism, sex crimes -- are supposed to be members-locked, although people sometimes forget and have to be noodged.

The things I Google sometimes, I'm amazed I'm not in some Romanian nick with a bag on my head already...

Yay. Have done the actual editing of my chapter. Now need to try out writing the additional section I can't decide whether it's best to include or not.

*takes deep breath and goes for it*

There may be actual wordage soon...

[identity profile] alternatealto.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I keep telling myself, "Editing counts! You put in a word here, a word there . . . after awhile it starts to add up, right?"
thisbluespirit: (Annie writing)

[personal profile] thisbluespirit 2010-09-26 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Editing is vital, and often more time-consuming than the actual writing. It has to be done. You just can't wave and boast about wordage, sadly.

But it definitely counts - it's the unglamorous, necessary bit.
lolmac: (Match)

[personal profile] lolmac 2010-09-26 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Editing totally counts. Good luck with the wordage!

[identity profile] jjpor.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 05:44 pm (UTC)(link)
This would be the additional section where Sgt Kennedy gets possessed and kills everybody else, right?
thisbluespirit: (1980s UNIT HQ)

[personal profile] thisbluespirit 2010-09-26 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
If only anything in the Epilogue were that excitinG!

I was only killing everyone if I couldn't edit the ending, and that's done.

However, considering the date, I can always have my last line being Sgt Kennedy going out to inspect a precariously damaged oak and getting squashed by it if you don't stop that. :-p

[identity profile] jjpor.livejournal.com 2010-09-26 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll stop! I'll stop!
lolmac: (no coffee)

*blinks* I am awake. I'm catching up on the posts Imissed.

My fic did not continue to write itself whilst I was asleep. Darn.
